About the event

When the Self Splits: Recognizing and Working with Dissociation in Therapy

Presented by: Adrienne Loker, LCSW, SEP, EMDR

Date: 2/6/26

CEUs: 1.25 hours

Dissociation is a common, but often subtle, response to trauma, and it can show up in ways that challenge even experienced clinicians. In this workshop, we’ll explore the full spectrum of dissociative responses, from zoning out and emotional numbing to complex structural dissociation. You’ll gain practical tools for recognizing dissociation in session, understanding its neurobiological and adaptive roots, and responding in ways that support integration rather than retraumatization. Through discussion, case examples, and experiential exercises, you’ll leave with a deeper understanding of how to navigate dissociation safely and effectively in your work.
